The SWOOP2010 partnership has progressed significantly over the past few months and we have now released the Request for Proposal (RFP) to the vendor community. The RFP has now been posted on Merx (http://www.merx.com/) and all vendor requests for information about the proposal should be directed through the Merx site. The SWOOP2010 Steering Committee will be evaluating vendor RFP proposals near the end of February and we expect to award the project shortly after that.
At the present time the SWOOP2010 partnership has grown to over 70 organizations and there are still others expressing an interest in participating. If anyone is still contemplating becoming a SWOOP2010 partner the clock is nearing midnight. After the RFP closes in three weeks we will not be accepting any more participants in the partnership. The project area covers over 45,000 sq km and the partnership includes federal, provincial and municipal governments as well as Conservation Authorities and many private sector organizations. With the number of organizations involved in SWOOP2010 we anticipate that millions of dollars will be saved through this partnership model. We look forward to working with those organizations and acquiring the products that will be generated in this project. Communications will be provided to registered partners soon and we are planning a meeting some time in March to inform those partners of the results of the RFP evaluations and to discuss next steps. To help understand the breadth of the partnership a map viewer has been maintained by the Grand River Conservation Authority and we encourage you to visit the map viewer showing who is involved in the project.
